Hi there!! This is the very first time I have ever even thought about blogging, but to be honest I need somewhere to go to sort my thoughts.
I have a wonderful 4 1/2 year old boy who was diagnosed with FPIEs (Food Protein-Induced Enterocolitis Syndrome) at the age of 6 months. It all started with rice. We started him on rice at 5 months old and he did great at first. Then I started to notice something was off. Then he started getting pure water diarrhea 20 times a day. Then he started vomitting. We were in and out of hospitals…ERs and being admitted. They just kept saying it is a virus. The Doc told us to stop the solids until he is doing better.
About 2 weeks after stopping the rice he was doing better so we got the OK to restart the rice. 2 1/2 hours after I fed him we rushed him to the hospital and he was in shock.
Our Doc just happened to be talking to an allergiest and he said it sounds like FPIEs…..that is were the journey began.
He now has 30+ foods and is doing wonderful. We have retried failed foods and he still has FPIEs.
Fast forward to today. We have a beautiful 10 month old that has FPIEs as well. His only food right now is applesauce. We are working on peas. He has failed ALL grains, potatoes, coconut, and cannot have any multi vitamin or iron because of possible corn.
I will be posting about passed foods for both boys, failed foods, how the baby is not passing anything his brother has. My diet…since I am nursing I eat practically nothing. Trying to keep the 4 1/2 year olds foods away from baby….hardest challenge.
thank you and please forgive any errors I am on my phone. I will be working on computer in future.
